Stop Active Sync from Passing Calendar & Other Information to the PDA

Under the default settings of ActiveSync, Microsoft will pass e-mail, contacts, appointments, notes, and various other items to your PDA. Depending on the amount of items transferred to the handheld, this data can cause diverse problems including random lockups or freezes.
The following article shows how to change the default settings within Active Sync to stop the synchronization of data from the PC to your handheld.
On your PDA: 1) To prevent loss items or data, please ensure all data has been synchronized onto the workstation computer or PC before completing the steps below. On your PC or Workstation: 1) Ensure Active Sync is running on your computer by verifying a circular green symbol is located on your icon tray.
2) Windows XP users who don’t see the active sync icon, can expand their icon tray by pushing the expand button
3) Double click on the active sync icon and the active sync window should appear
4) Choose File | Delete Partnership
5) Press the “Yes” button to confirm the deletion
6) Ensure the PDA is ON and place into cradle
7) The “New Partnership” window should appear
8) Ensure the “Standard partnership” option is selected and press the “Next” button
9) Verify “Synchronize with this desktop computer” is selected and press the “Next” button
10) If you are uncertain or you only use this computer to dock your PDA, Confirm “Yes, I want to synchronize with only this computer” is selected and press the “Next” button
11) Next, uncheck all items listed in this window
12) There may be some hidden items that need to be unchecked. Press the down arrow on the scroll bar to ensure you have found all items.
13) Press the “Next” button
14) Now, press the “Finished” button
You have successfully setup Active Sync to not add or synchronize items to your pocket PC.
