Dell Axim Setup for Bluetooth GPS & Weather Box

GPS CONFIGURATION: Start Bluetooth GPS: blue light is blinking 1. Start Dell; Anywhere Map is OFF 2. Tap Bluetooth icon at lower right of screen 3. Check Turn on Bluetooth 4. Tap Devices tab at bottom of screen 5. Tap New Partnership (Dell scans for nearby Bluetooth devices) 6. Tap the Bluetooth GPS ID (e.g. HI-406BT) 7. Tap Next at bottom of screen 8. Enter Device Passkey (for the HI-406BT it is 0000, Garmin 10 is 1234) 9. Tap Next 10. Check Serial Port box 11. Tap Finish at bottom of screen 12. Tap COM Ports tab 13. Tap New Outgoing Port 14. GPS ID appears; Select it; tap Next at bottom of screen 15. Select COM8 from drop-down menu; UNCHECK Secure Communications 16. Tap Finish at bottom of screen 17. Tap OK at top right corner of screen 18. Start Anywhere Map 19. Tap File>Settings>GPS Settings • Communications Port: Set to Bluetooth on COM8 • Data Rate: Set to 4800 • GPS Options: Check Auto Connect BT, Disable BT Check 20. Tap DONE
Anywhere Map and the Bluetooth GPS now communicate: • Upper right corner of AWM: NoGPS switches to NoSAT (indicates link) NoSAT disappears when GPS acquires satellites 19. Tap File > Exit to close Anywhere Map and save these settings.
XM CONFIGURATION: Start Bluetooth 1. Start Dell; Anywhere Map is OFF 2. Tap Bluetooth icon at lower right of screen 3. Check Turn on Bluetooth (make this device discoverable to other devices UNCHECKED) 4. Tap Devices tab at bottom of screen 5. Tap New Partnership (Dell scans for nearby Bluetooth devices) 6. Tap XM BLUE SPP* 7. Tap Next at bottom of screen 8. Enter Passkey for wx receiver box (0) 9. Tap Next 8. Check Serial Port box 9. Tap Finish at bottom of screen 10. Tap COM Ports tab 11. Tap New Outgoing Port 12. XM BLUE SPP* appears; Select it; tap Next at bottom of screen 13. Select COM7 from drop-down menu; UNCHECK Secure Communications 14. Tap Finish at bottom of screen 15. Tap OK at top right corner of screen 16. Start Anywhere Map 17. Tap File>Settings>WX Settings>XMWX • Communications Port: Set to Bluetooth on COM7 • Enable XM is Check marked 18. Tap OK
Anywhere Map and the Bluetooth XM now communicate: • Bluetooth light on XM is steady blue; • Wx info is in upper left corner. INIT, Act Chk, startup, request, signal strength 19. Tap File > Exit to close Anywhere Map and save these settings. |
